How to find us.
How to contact us.
Holmhead Cottage on Hadrian's Wall is in a quiet location directly on The Hadrian's Wall National Trail and The Pennine Way. If you're walking either of these paths, just stay on the trail. From the Hadrian's Wall Path walking east (or Pennine Way walking north), we are about 200 metres after Thirlwall Castle, just over the Tipalt Burn footbridge.
Walking west on the Hadrian's Wall Path (or South on the Pennine Way), we are about 1km from Walltown Crags, at the bottom of the long hill.
If you're cycling, the C2C (Hadrian's Wall ) route 72 passes within 300m of Holmhead Cottage, about 1km after Greenhead, heading west or 5km after Gilsland heading east. Look for the sign next to the cycle bridge over the Tipalt Burn.
Travelling by car, the only access is via Greenhead. The village is just off the A69 Newcastle-Carlisle road. In the village centre, opposite the Greenhead Hotel, turn into Station Road (look for the telephone box on the corner) and drive along there for 200m until you see our sign on the right. Turn sharp right and cross over the river bridge. We're about 0.5 km at the end of the track.
If you're using Satnav. Use the Postcode CA8 7HE to get you to Station Road. Do not use our normal postcode, this is guaranteed to get you lost!
