Sleep on Hadrian's Wall.

Holmhead Cottage is part of an old farmhouse, built with stone from Hadrians Wall in about 1800. Before that, the stone had been used to build the nearby Thirlwall Castle - a stronghold against the notorious Border Reivers until it was abandoned in the 18th century.

The cottage is not only built of Wall Stone, it sits right over the foundations of the original wall - on the site of Turret 46a in fact - so guests are not only sleeping on the wall, they're sleeping in it!

The central location makes Holmhead Cottage ideal as a base for exploring Hadrians Wall and its many points of interest. The Hadrians Wall National Trail is on the doorstep - as is the Pennine Way - so it's great for walkers (and cyclists - it's only about 300metres from the Hadrians Wall Cycle Trail; route 72)

The cottage has a private walled garden with views of the spectacular remains of Thirlwall Castle and there is space for car parking.

Holmhead Cottage on Hadrian's Wall has two bedrooms (a double and a twin) and will sleep four.
